The October session will focus on recent attacks on academic freedom in South Carolina and the steps we can take collectively to protect and empower ourselves and our colleagues, institutions, and students.


Your AAUP-SC is proud to welcome Dr. Mark Criley as a guest speaker. Dr. Criley is a senior program officer in the national AAUP’s Department of Academic Freedom, Tenure, and Governance (DAFTG) and staff to the AAUP’s Committee on College and University Governance. Before taking his position at the AAUP in 2021, he was an associate professor of philosophy at Illinois Wesleyan University.


Your AAUP-SC invites all faculty, graduate students, and friends to join us for our inaugural Power Lunch virtual speaker series. Power Lunches are open to workers across South Carolina’s colleges and universities and are designed to build solidarity, share critical information, and foster discussion on the challenges facing higher education.
