The American Association of University Professors of South Carolina (AAUP–SC) invites higher ed workers across South Carolina to come together in solidarity, share critical information, and build strength in numbers.
Our Spring 2026 Power Lunch Series will continue with a discussion of higher education organizing: what it is, how we do it, and why it is necessary now. Join us to explore how collective action can safeguard academic freedom, improve working conditions, and enhance our students’ learning environments.
We are proud to welcome our guest speaker, Brian Allen.
Brian Allen (he/him) has served as a staff organizer with the AAUP since April 2025, supporting chapters and state conferences across the East Coast. Before joining AAUP, he worked with academic workers in the South with United Campus Workers-CWA and in New York City with the United Auto Workers. He has also worked with unions for public defenders, social service providers, and manufacturing workers. Originally from Georgia, Brian was first introduced to organizing about 15 years ago through community efforts resisting gentrification-driven displacement in Atlanta and as a Teamster working in aviation.
