The American Association of University Professors of South Carolina (AAUP-SC) invites higher ed workers across South Carolina to come together in solidarity, share critical information, and build strength in numbers. 

Our Fall 2026 Power Lunch Series continues with guest Johnda “Jonnee” Bentley. Jonnee joins us to provide a brief overview of the many lawsuits AAUP has filed against the Trump administration in defense of academic freedom. Then, she will discuss in more detail two lawsuits recently filed in Texas against Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University. Both cases challenge university censorship policies that restrict faculty from teaching on certain topics related to race, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Learn how the AAUP is uniquely situated as a membership organization to give faculty a voice to fight back against state overreach.
