AAUP National Votes to Sanction Spartanburg Community College
In an announcement on Monday, February 26, 2024, the national AAUP voted to sanction Spartanburg Community College in South Carolina and the New College of Florida.
AAUP's Governing Council voted unanimously to sanction Spartanburg Community College for "substantial noncompliance with widely accepted standards of academic government." This sanction comes after a full report on Spartanburg Community College from AAUP's Investigative Committee. The AAUP issues sanctions for the purpose of informing Association members, the profession at large, and the public that unsatisfactory conditions of academic government exist at the institutions in question.
